Pride at Delivered Outcomes Despite Obvious Challenges says CEO Gibb

Ewe Rams CEO, Duncan Gibb has reflected on another year of success for the club, expressing pride at the outcomes delivered in the face of the obvious challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic and the main club entering administration in September 2021.

“Since the formation of the clubs Operational Board of Directors in 2015, we’ve been very clear from day one in terms of our strategy. Put quite simply it’s all about having a clear ‘vision’, facilitated through a robust ‘process’ that is delivered at the right ‘pace’.

"It’s seen the club grow and progress both on and off the pitch year on year, however 2021 has brought with it challenges that we could never in a million years have envisaged when we set that vision.

“This time last year we’d just faced Sunderland in league action, however I don’t think any of us could have predicted that it would represent our final fixture of the season due to the impact of the pandemic. On the back of that, we’d only just commenced the new 2021/22 season when the main club entered an administration status that still remains in place as we move towards the new year.

“Put those two things together, and both outsiders and those within the game could have forgiven us for simply battening down the hatches and tempering our expectations.

"However, as we enter 2022, we can celebrate becoming one of only a handful of clubs in the women’s game to be a formal stakeholder in their home ground, realising record levels of sponsorship, consistently enjoying the highest home attendances in the National League, seeing more academy players make their first team debut than in any previous season, and sitting top of the National League.

“It really has been a landmark year in the face of challenge and every single player, coach, support staff member, board member, sponsor, and supporter has played an integral part in its delivery.

"We are confident that Derby County will have a new ownership group in place in the coming months, and whoever that is will certainly be pleased with where the female arm of their club is at, ”
