Packed Academy Awards Night Celebrates Ewe Rams Success

A packed Pedigree Suite at Pride Park Stadium enjoyed an evening of celebration of the Ewe Rams revered Academy on Sunday evening.

Over 400 attendees witnessed players and coaches from the Under 9’s to Under 20’s recognised for collective efforts that saw five trophies added to the clubs’ growing portfolio of success.

Club Chairman, Nick Britten along with CEO, Duncan Gibb delivered moving tributes to the hard work that has led to these outcomes during what has been a testing season for the club, on the back of the main club entering administration in September 2021.

In addition to that, First Team Manager, Sam Griffiths provided her thoughts on a season that saw the Ewe Rams finish Runners-Up in the National League North and the integration of a record seven academy players into the squad.

According to Academy Director, Dave Cholerton, whilst the evening was an unbridled success, there is little time to reflect with record numbers signing up to the clubs Open Days being held next week.

Cholerton said “It’s been another season of success for the academy, culminating in trophy successes and players progressing into the first team, and it’s always nice to see the club come together as one to celebrate and reflect on our achievements.

It’s no surprise that as a club we attract a lot of interest from potential new players looking to test themselves at the highest level through our collaborative pathway with the RTC, however it’s fair to say that even I’ve been surprised at the sheer volume of interest in the forthcoming open days, with over 350 players registered already!"
