On Wednesday 7th September we held our Academy Night at Mickleover FC. This is where all of our teams get together and it's a chance for parents and coaches from the different age groups to meet, catch up and get to know each other.
The weather was not kind to us on the night, the heavens really did open up with one of the heaviest downpours of the year. However despite the rain it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all involved.
The event involved a festival of football for all the players, where we created teams across age groups to give our youngsters the chance to play with different players. The evening concluded with a Coaches versus Parent match, which was a fitting end to the evening. Players such as Sheila Rollinson and Nigel Wright graced the turf to show their silky skills. With our resident P.A. announcer on the pitch the commentary was left to some of the older academy players, who did a great job geeing up the crowd and creating some songs of their own.
We would like to thank all the volunteers that contributed to making it a successful evening.
