4 on the Bounce for Ewe Rams after Boro Win!

Derby County Women made it 4 wins on the bounce with a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough Women at Mickleover FC, in the FA Women's National League Northern Divison.

Derby dominated the game from the first minute and the result never looked in doubt, with Ellie Gilliatt scoring her second hat-trick in as many games with Precious Hamilton adding a fourth in a comfortable win.

Gilliatt had an opportunity to open the scoring after just four minutes, after some great play from Sophie Domingo presented Gilliatt with a golden opportunity, but an amazing last-ditch block from the Middlesbrough defender off the line kept the scores level.

Domingo continued to prove tricky for the Boro defence, but her touch let her down early on to deny Derby their opener.

The opener came for the home side after 15 minutes, as a header from Megan Tinsley created an opportunity for Gilliatt who went through on goal and netted past Rosie Todd.

Hamilton continued to be a nuisance all afternoon, who went close on a number of occasions before netting the second of the afternoon, glancing a quality header past Todd to cap an excellent move from the Rams.

Gilliatt added her second and Derby’s third of the afternoon after 38 minutes, but all credit must go to Sophie Domingo who strode through the field to carve out a glorious opportunity, playing through the striker and she capped off some quality play.

The second half lacked the intensity of the first, but the hosts continued to control the majority of the game, as the sides shared the second half chances. Gilliatt completed her hat-trick with the goal of the day. Some great play by Kira Rai winning the ball back from inside her own half, and played it out to the in-form striker who curled an effort over the goalkeeper from 30 yards for the fourth.

Derby saw out the final 20 minutes with relative ease, and could have had a fifth, Rai hitting over from close range.

The win keeps the Rams in fourth, just a point behind East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest, but with a game in hand, and the two sides meet next week in what will be an exciting and highly anticipated affair.
